My Updated Natural Hair Routine & Why I use Crisco.

So my hair routine has been pretty simple for quite a long while now. There are some new products that I have added to my line up. Without further adieu, let's get right to it!

For shampooing, I still use my Giovanni Smooth As Silk Deep Moisture Shampoo but ever since I received the African Black Soap from Voila Natural, I've been using that off and on as well. Check the review for that out here.

For my deep conditioner, I am now using Pantene Pro V Truly Natural Deep Conditioner. I really like this stuff. It gets my hair super soft and the price is just right. I plan on making a video on my deep conditioning routine soon since I have low porosity so I have to do it a bit differently. Stay tuned for that.

For my leave in, I use Cantu Shea Butter Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream. I really like this as well because it keeps my hair nice and moisturized. The formula is a nice and thick consistency and I can use one bottle for 2-3 months before having to repurchase. It's also a good price.

I henna my hair every 6-8 weeks using Light Mountain Natural Henna in Red. I liken this to a "protein" treatment for my hair since henna binds with the hair shaft and fills in the gaps. See my henna routine video here: My Henna Routine

Lastly, I use Crisco to seal in all the moisture. I've been using this for years but I've actually never mentioned it here on my blog. I've actually gotten some comments on Youtube telling me not to use/questioning my use of Crisco.

Actually, if you read the ingredients list, you'll see that it is made mostly of oils.

Ingredients: SOYBEAN OIL, FULLY HYDROGENATED PALM OIL, PALM OIL, MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES, TBHQ AND CITRIC ACID (ANTIOXIDANTS).

Also, please check out my video below. I give a quick demo of my moisturizing and sealing routine.
