Drug Store Makeup Look for Dark Skin & Product Review

I saw the e.l.f. gel eyeshadows online and I just had to try them. I was also curious to see how they looked on dark skin because I didn't see any black women swatch or wear these on any blog. For this look, I used "Toast".
Here's the full list of everything used.
  1. e.l.f. Natural Looking Lush Lashes (Buy Now)
  2. e.l.f. Long Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow - Toast
  3. e.l.f. Cream Eyeliner - Black (Buy Now)
  4. L.A. Colors "Brights" Palette - Black
  5. e.l.f. Professional Eye Shadow Brush (Buy Now)
  6. Love&Beauty Eyebrow Razor
  7. Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Shadow Pencil - Graphite (no picture cause I forgot) (Buy Now)
  8. e.l.f. Eyelid Primer (not picture cause I forgot) (Buy Now)

Step by Step Process:

  1. Primed my eyelid.
  2. Used the Shadow Pencil as a "base".
  3. Added the gel eyeshadow, then used a black powder shadow to darken up the look.
  4. Used the gel eyeliner.
  5. Added lashes.
Here's some pics of the look at different angles:

Now for my experience/review with the products.
  • Lashes - nothing new, used these before and love them, very natural looking. They are best for single use but if you are gentle, you can definitely use them more than once.
  • Lustrous Eyeshadow - it's a little tricky at first as it has a thick consistency, kinda like rubber cement when you roll it into a ball. It's a bit hard to spread. It's pretty translucent so about 3 layers provides the actual pigmentation you see in the jar.
  • Creme Eyeliner - went on effortlessly. I was really impressed. I hear people complain the the brush is too stiff so I bent mine back and forth a few times before I used it and it was just fine. It went on nice and smooth and very opaque.
  • Shadow Pencil - Perhaps it was my technique but it didn't come out as opaque as I was expecting. I wanted more. Even after applying more than one layer, I still had to use a powder shadow to get the desired darkness. I'd say these work best underneath power shadows. It has a sparkle to it which is nice.
